Welcome to the GRC Recorders pages. This blog provides details on all the relevant news of Glamorgan’s scarcer birds, plus all BBRC & WRP decisions that affect us locally. It will also be used to document the status and occurrence of these scarcer species and we welcome contributions from anyone with photographs, artwork or documentation of rarities past, present and future. The GRC also welcomes all seawatching news from around Glamorgan and news of passage migrants in spring & autumn, uncommon birds in our area and unusual behaviour.

Blog content will be strictly moderated. Access to pages and downloads are available to everyone. All photographs on this blog remain the property of the originator. The Glamorgan Rarities Committee, in conjunction with the Glamorgan Bird Club & Gower Wildlife , have agreed to co-operate with the Welsh Ornithological Society in the sharing of bird records & photographs in the interest of keeping accurate records and to promote birdwatching in North, Mid & South Wales.

OOC:Osprey - Cantref Reservoir,Powys
OOC I know,but only just,one of three on Cantref and Beacons Reservoirs on Sun 8.April 2012.
It truly is a quality shot and nice to get such a great action shot so close to home. After many years of chasing this shot I'm glad you got your rewards. Very nicely done.
Hi Jake,I'll certainly put a record in,I like probably lots of others thought that only Llwyn-on was in Glamorgan until I looked closely at an OS map,as you say we do have a tiny corner of Cantref. Cheers Mark,set out early with Wayne M to look for Ring Ouzels and ended up having one of those incredible days that you remember forever !

Very impressive Jeff. The SW corner of Cantref Res is in Greater Glamorgan - did it fly into our little zone?
Of course it did Jake,it spent most of it's time at the south end of the reservoir !
In fact both of the scrapping Ospreys took place on the shore next to the fishermans hut in the s western corner.
Are you both going to submit it officially for Eastern Glamorgan - no notes required, just site, date & times & behaviour etc.

Jake,i was talking to a reliable Angler this morning who said he had an Osprey fly over Castle Coch heading north on good friday.
