It will also be used to document the status and occurrence of these scarcer species and we welcome contributions from anyone with photographs, artwork or documentation of rarities past, present and future. The GRC also welcomes all seawatching news from around Glamorgan and news of passage migrants in spring & autumn, uncommon birds in our area and unusual behaviour.

Important News

Llanishen & Lisvane Reservoirs are to be closed to the public for at least the next 12 months due to maintenance work on the reservoirs. The infrastructure of the reservoirs walls/banks & the work to bring Llanishen back into service will mean that heavy plant will have to be used, thus H&S decrees that the public will have to be kept out whilst this important work takes place. Viewing will be from the platform at the Blackoak Road entrance only.

As for the concerns of the local birding element - I'll quote Laurel & Hardy: "That's another fine mess you've got me into!"

Visited the site late morning, a major programme of maintenance and repair works about to commence and a new security firm is operating and has personnel posted at the access points and on regular patrol handing out a leaflet advising that the site is closed to all public access for at least the next 12 months. This includes access to Lisvane Res car park so, as Jake says, the only (limited) public viewing point is from the observation platform.
