Sad News

Ron G. Davies passed away on Christmas Day. He was a local birder from Rhiwbina who used to birdwatch at the reservoirs & Roath Park. He was a long standing member of the GBC and always sent his records in beautifully hand written. Our sincere condolences to his family.

This is very sad news indeed. I knew Ron for many years and regularly corresponded with him when I was County Recorder, and we were still in touch with each other until the last year. Fabulously enthusiastic and very active well into his old age, I enjoyed many birding circuits of the Res with Ron and his late wife Joan, who he sorely missed after her passing. Ron was a fervent supporter of the Glamorgan Bird Club and probably its oldest member. But above all else, Ron was thoroughly decent gentleman.
