Sad News

I have some very sad news. Dave Bull passed away last Friday after a long struggle against cancer. Dave was originally from England who settled in Cardiff and was a keen birder, later becoming a ringer. He trapped at many sites, including KNNR, Coed Ruperra and many in the Cardiff area. He, along with Ron Hogarth, trapped Glamorgan's first Marsh Warbler in June 2010 at the CBWR. Our thoughts go to his family at this time.

I've just exchanged texts with Dave's son, Alan. He's glad that the news has been spread across the local birding community as it's one less thing for him to worry about.

Sad news indeed. I never met Dave but got the feeling he was liked by all. Did anyone know him well enough to do an obit for e.g. newsletter/ EGBR?

David was a key man in establishing the ringing group at Kenfig in its early days. He ringed over 4400 birds at Kenfig inluding several aquatics, a barred warbler and yellow-browed warbler. It is a tradegy that such a committed bird ringer has been cut down before his time.

Peter: I would very much appreciate an obituary for Dave to be published in the 2010 East Glam bird report. You can email it to John W. for inclusion. Thank you. Jake.
