Beautiful bird even though it's an escapee
Wow! Nice pic Clive - looks like it was pretty confiding - you don't tote a big lens do you, or was it digiscoped?
Came off the sea and looked very pale below,so first thoughts of Gyr,then it landed.Took 18x 12 mp Lumix and some stealth. She flew low over Neals towards the turbine.I wondered why it was exceptionaly quiet.
Nice photo Clive. As you say 'came in off the sea'. Did you see any jesses? A bird like this costs a lot of money - someone somewhere must be missing this bird. The plumage looks really good too - not just out of a cage look about it.
And there was me bombing down the M4 for a Gyr after the word got out !!
Forgot to mention, crackin' photo btw Clive !!
Sorry Jeff but didn't expect a Saker.
Did not see any jesses and yes a few grands worth.Well it didn't hang around. There has not been any falcons on the tip for awhile and they were usually Gyrs.It just seem to gather its breath an bomb over the levels and out of sight.
Bet it got your pulse racing, nice one Clive.
Was only kidding Clive, was waiting for more news, not seen one in the wild but watched a falconer flying one at a country fair up at Builth Wells a couple of years ago, incredible birds !!
Cracking pic, Clive. Nice.
