Cardiff Bay Wetland Reserve

The bushes near the boardwalk were alive with warblers this morning - 10 reed warbler, 2 sedge warbler, 2 whitethroat, 7 willow warbler, 3 blackcap and 2 lesser whitethroat. It really was a joy to watch. Also pleased to see tufted ducks doing well with 3 broods of 4, 6 and 8 on the reserve. Hope the gulls leave them alone.

River Taff, Blackweir

10 goosander feeding together on the Taff, all redheads. Family group? This is the largest number I have seen together on the Taff. Also one juvenile dipper.

Clydach Vale CP

Yesterday I found a recently deceased 2nd year Gannet at the top end of Clydach Vale CP. Probably blown in during the strong winds a couple of weeks ago. Unsurprisingly this is my first record of Gannet from the Rhondda!
