GRC Blog

Welcome to the GRC Recorders pages. This blog provides details on all the relevant news of Glamorgan’s scarcer birds, plus all BBRC & WRP decisions that affect us locally. It will also be used to document the status and occurrence of these scarcer species and we welcome contributions from anyone with photographs, artwork or documentation of rarities past, present and future. The GRC also welcomes all seawatching news from around Glamorgan and news of passage migrants in spring & autumn, uncommon birds in our area and unusual behaviour.

All visitors are welcome. You must first register by sending an email to GlamRC@gmail.com before you can contribute. An invite will be sent to your email address. Blog content will be strictly moderated. Access to pages and downloads are available to everyone. All photographs on this blog remain the property of the originator.

Cardiff Garden

(c) Lisa Every

A White-cheeked Turaco visited a Cardiff garden last autumn and was seen eating plums. It was again seen this summer - having survived a Welsh winter - visiting the same garden. The Cardiff crew that visited Ethiopia should make an effort to see this bird to remind themselves of their trip!

GRC News

Paul Parsons has now retired from the GRC after 8 years of being a member & Owain Gabb from Gower, West Glamorgan has replaced him on the Committee from 1/06/2016. The GRC wishes to thank Sid for all his hard work, and on a personal note I would like to thank Sid for his input on the committee, which can be a rather thankless task. The GRC would also like to say hello to Owain who has joined the committee from Gower. The GRC now consists of 3 members each from West & East Glamorgan, a true refection of the birding in both recording areas.
The GRC is committed to help, advise & further the recording of birds in Glamorgan.
Thank you.
