This constitutes the 2nd Welsh Record and the first record for Glamorgan VC41. Brambling, Caerau

With all this crap weather I'm going stir crazy today, so decided to spend sometime watching the garden feeders, when a female Brambling dropped in - my first since 2006 in the garden. Photos taken in monsoon rain conditions so only record shots. There haven't been too many records of Brambling this winter, so this brightened up the day. In the 3rd picture you can just make out the white rump.

Flat Holm News

Flat Holm is to be leased to the RSPB with support from the National trust for the next 30 years. This is really good news for the island and its wildlife.

Little Bunting at Fforest Farm today

Little Bunting still at Forest Farm

It was a real pleasure to catch up with this fantastic bunting at Forest Farm, this morning. A lifer for me and it was a real treat to study it's distinguishing features in variable light and range. Many thanks to Mike and Jake on a truly stunning find.

Little Bunting in Cardiff

A Little Bunting was found at Forest Farm Reserve Centre, Cardiff ST 135805 this am and was present in a damp area feeding on grass seeds next to the bird-feeders. It was present from about 11.30 until 12.58 when it flew off over the feeders. It was viewable down to less than 10 ft. from the hide. This is only the third record for VC41 Glamorgan and the first for East Glamorgan.
